    He's special and his playing is special. I have always thought that he has always been underrated. I bet you're only familiar with his music that has been played on the radio or highlighted. If you listen to some of his older music there are so many gems just waiting to be discovered. For example, Contigo, Canela, Song of the Wind, so much more. As the saying goes, you're preaching to the choir. May the Grace of God be with you. 😊 ❤

    Another way to confuse guitarists. Here is simplest method: Just play E major scale or C#minor scale. These two scales are identical. For example if you have a song in A major key just play F# minor scale. So simple. If you learn minor scale you know major scale.

    Very thoughtful analysis. Imo up until Recycler all Gibbons' solos were compositions wihtin the song. It was never about stringing a series of minor pentatonic licks together like a lot of his contemporaries did

    Hi David, I must admire you for Your creative approach . It's all very fine and dandy for someone who knows how to play and understands the fret board . But Most people who try to learn need a structure to latch into. I remember when I began learning 50 years ago the information I was given was as if I was a parrot that had to reproduce a certain series of notes back to my tutor so he could pat me on the head and give me a doggy treat and charge me an excessive amount of 💰 cash so he didn't have to pay tax. Most musicians need to know where they are located on the sonic 🗾 map in order for them to be in control of their instruments. just like the captain of a ship 🚢⚓. best Regards John.

    While watching this it occurred to me that many of us play on our fingertips because we’re chord players and you have to allow room for all strings to ring. If you play flat you may be able to be more expressive on SINGLE notes because you don’t have to care whether you’re muting adjacent notes.

    • @Wallimann
      @Wallimann День назад

      You can but you would still be playing in C Major. What you're talking about here are shapes. What makes the key is not the note you start with but rather the "pull" that chord you are paying over has with the notes you play. Hi, bro. Very cool. i want to and can improv a little, bro. i learn a bit of vocab and change it up. But I get bored with it. After a day or 2 its all the same. Even with not starting on the one or two - get my drift. Short lines long lines. I start with 2 notes maybe then let myself go with a felt rhythm. But that rhythm ends up not changing much- ends up boring. Can you have some realistic stuff that could help?

      @Wallimann Thanks David. I checked out that video. Looks like you're saying to visualise where the chord shapes are down by the nut and then just move in and out of those. Then when you know your chord shapes higher up the neck, do the same up there? Sounds simple in theory, but the reality is trying to put feeling and emotion into what you're playing, but also being aware that a chord will suddenly change and you need to move to those notes is pretty tough and you might lose that connection with what you're feeling. At least this is my stumbling block over the last couple of years. I'll keep trying though!
